Policy on the Prevention and Eradication of Human Trafficking
Mosaic Industries, Inc. complies with local California, United States, and international laws relating to Anti-Human Trafficking and Forced/Slave Labor. We are committed to preventing the use of unlawful child labor, forced labor, or any other unlawful labor practice in the manufacture of our products, and elsewhere in our supply chain.
What is human trafricking?
Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain. The United Nations' Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons defines it as,
the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, or fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person for the purpose of exploitation.1)
At Mosaic Industries, Inc. we have instituted policies to assure that we, our suppliers, and business partners comply with both the letter and spirit of laws intended to prevent human trafficking.
Purpose
Mosaic Industries, Inc. is committed to a work environment and a supply chain that are free from human trafficking, forced labor and unlawful child labor. We understand that we are responsible for promoting ethical and lawful employment practices by ourselves and by our suppliers, subcontractors or business partners. To that end, we follow the requirements and guidance of the following laws:
- The Federal Acquisition Regulations (“FAR”) for Strengthening Protections Against Trafficking in Persons in Federal Contracts;
- Title XVII of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013, entitled “Ending Trafficking in Government Contracting”; and,
Scope
Our policy to prevent human trafficking covers all employees and operations of the company. In the event that anything in our policy may conflict with local law, local law prevails. To the best of our ability we seek to impose those same policies on our suppliers, and to require that our suppliers also comply with the above cited laws. Further, any discovery of the use of forced labor, unlawful child labor, or human trafficking on the part of customers will result in our refusal to sell subsequent product to those customers.
Application
Human trafficking and slavery are crimes under state, federal and international law. We follow the guidance and recommendations of the above cited regulations in order to assure compliance with those laws. In particular, we do not tolerate the use of forced labor or unlawful child labor in the manufacture of any of our products, and we do not accept components, products or services from vendors or manufacturers that use forced labor or child labor. In order to do business with Mosaic Industries, Inc., suppliers must show compliance with this policy at our request and to our satisfaction.
